Site of the 1996 Summer Olympics whitewater kayaking, the Ocoee River offers some of the best white water rafting in the southeastern United States! Go for the full trip and experience the full Olympic class 4 and 5 Rapids followed by lunch along the Riverbanks or choose the middle Ocoee half-day option for a great time on the Ocoee River! Bring your own snack and settle in for quiet afternoon of wine tasting or catch the music at some of the local favorites! Pair this outing with a trip to Amicalola Falls State Park and a short hike to the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge and you've got your day planned! A definite must do while you are in the Blue Ridge area! Amicalola Falls are the highest Falls east of the Mississippi and range from a cascading trickle of water to a thundering Roar as they head down 729 ft below! Numerous day trips and Hikes are found all around the area, including the trailhead for the famous Appalachian Trail at nearby Springer Mountain! One of the most scenic and easiest hikes is the short 15-minute hike to the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge... however the toughest part is the rather bumpy 3-mile ride down the maintenance service road! Both top attractions are only 15 minutes apart, and less than 45 minutes from Moosemac.... add Cartecay Vineyard to your day and you are all set!
Got a sense of adventure and don't mind getting a little wet? The Cartecay river offers a great introduction to a scenic and easy Whitewater trip down a beautiful River just 35 minutes from Moosemac!
